The Goldmine
in depth

Nieuw Gent is a neighborhood in Ghent that has been struggling with a bad reputation for some time. With the project 'The Goldmine' we counter this negative image by inviting talented artists to fill the space with art.

By applying quality murals we want to increase the quality of life and show that there is more to be found here. On the one hand, we want to give people from outside New Ghent a reason to visit. On the other hand, we bring color to the streetscape for the local residents. With the interventions we want to give the neighborhood something to be proud of.

The Spanish artist Slim Safont was inspired by some portraits, taken by a local photographer, of some local youth during the local neighborhood party. With this participatory element we wanted to create a link to the neighborhood.

Proceeds from Wallin's projects go towards funding this mission. The project was co-financed in collaboration with the City of Ghent and the department of Culture.

Abstract Session — How it all began

Abstract Sessions originated from a simple but bold question: what happens when you dedicate an entire wall to abstract art? Together with a diverse group of artists from across Europe, we brought colour, energy and experimentation together in a unique creative process.

Street art: the street belongs to everyone

Street art has long ceased to be merely "anti" or a paragon of anarchy. Today, thanks in part to this art form, the idea that public space belongs to everyone is alive.
