Flowering buds — Anaïs Lera

On the corner of Sasstraat and Kerkstraat in Gentbrugge, on the façade of café BijTjeu, a vibrant new mural by French street artist Anaïs Lera now catches the eye. Inspired by the botanical legacy of Louis van Houtte and the history of the neighbourhood, Anaïs brought to life a work that feels almost otherworldly.

Just as Van Houtte once brought exotic plants to Gentbrugge, Anaïs now brings colour, form, and wonder to the streets. Using brush, roller, spray can and paint, she spent nine days creating the piece—helped by a rare stretch of sunny weather that allowed her to finish the wall in one continuous flow.

The mural was made possible with the support of Wijkbudget Gent and was created in collaboration with engaged local residents.

Planned For Demolition
