Veterinary practice Galluvet
Veterinary practice Galluvet in Lummen invited artist Toon van Ishoven to transform their consultation rooms with a series of animal-themed murals. The small pets and rodents departments, as well as the professional poultry meeting room, each received a unique visual upgrade.
With his distinctive style, Toon brought color, character, and playfulness into what was once a clinical environment. The murals not only warm up the space, but also make visits more enjoyable for both humans and animals alike.
About the
Artist
Toon Van Ishoven is an Antwerp, Belgium-based visual artist/designer. He creates murals, paintings, graphic and audiovisual designs. He creates both original, free art and commissioned works. He likes to alternate between solo work and collaborations with theater directors, writers, choreographers, fellow artists, etc. Each wall influences the content he chooses for it. He often integrates the specific shape or architectural features of a building, a column or an interior space into his design. His painting technique consists of about 2/3 brushwork and 1/3 spray and/or airbrush. It allows him to give the piece a substantial level of realism and a 3-dimensional feel.

WATERWEG — Kunst langs de Gentse waterlijn
Water vormt al eeuwenlang de ruggengraat van Gent. De Leie en de Schelde tekenen niet alleen de grenzen van de stad, maar verbinden ook buurten, functies en ritmes. Met het project WATERWEG, gerealiseerd binnen het wijkbudget van de Binnenstad, werd die waterlijn tijdelijk ingezet als drager voor hedendaagse kunst.
Het uitgangspunt was eenvoudig: onderzoeken hoe kunst een betekenisvolle rol kan spelen langs de Gentse waterwegen, zonder de plek te domineren. Niet één centrale locatie, maar een reeks kleine ingrepen, verspreid langs de oevers. In de praktijk kwam de focus te liggen op het traject tussen het Patershol en De Krook.
Planned For Demolition
In een voormalige supermarkt te Gent ontstaat een tijdelijke tentoonstelling, vlak voor het gebouw verdwijnt. Kunstenaars vullen de lege muren en open ruimten met werk dat specifiek voor dit korte moment wordt gemaakt, volledig bewust van zijn vergankelijkheid. De structuur, het achtergelaten materiaal en de rauwe sfeer van het pand vormen mee het decor en de inspiratiebron.
