Clematis Armandi — Doa Oa

Doa Oa, originally from Galicia, Spain, has brought her art to the streets of Oud Gentbrugge. Through her murals, she aims to reintroduce plant life into urban spaces. With each wall she paints, she helps cities breathe again.

This mural is part of a broader project in Oud Gentbrugge, supported by the City of Ghent’s neighbourhood budget. It is inspired by the botanical legacy of Louis van Houtte, a 19th-century botanist whose plant expeditions once brought exotic species to local greenhouses. For this artwork, Doa Oa drew inspiration from the Clematis Armandii, also known as the Apple Blossom, a flower that grows at the base of the wall, extending its bloom year-round onto the facade.

Planned For Demolition
