IBIS Budget Hotel
In depth

In 2019 the Ibis Budget Gent Dampoort opened its doors at the Koopvaardijlaan in Ghent.

With its location just outside the city centre and close to Gent-Dampoort station, it is ideally situated for its travelling guests. Anyway, the owners were annoyed by one problem. When guests came downstairs in the morning to enjoy their breakfast, they had to look out on a wall that did not satisfy their appetite.

So the owners looked for a suitable alternative: a beautiful mural. Together with them we went looking for the right artist to create their image of tranquillity and elegance. The Portuguese artist HUARIU was already on our wish list for a while and he fitted in perfectly with the wishes of their concept. With his graphic style in black and white, he tackled the wall and created 'Patior', which refers to the path we take internally to find peace. A peace that can be found here in IBIS Budget as well as here.

Does your company or hotel also have a grey, boring wall that disturbs the productivity of your staff or the peace and quiet of your clients? Wallin' will be happy to look with you at how we can turn this problem into a positive story.

About the
Artist

Huariu (PT)

Huariu revealed himself as a street artist in 2014 and began focusing on his work, using only black and white and various combinations of straight lines and shapes to create abstract and figurative designs. He paints, most frequently, portraits where all shading is created through various combinations of horizontal and diagonal lines. He likes to venture into upper body and lower body paintings as well, where some emotion is conveyed through the posture of the body. Huariu works mostly on canvases and murals using spray and acrylic paint.

Planned For Demolition
