Bierstalbrug Lovendegem
in depth
At the request of Vinderhoutepeleton, in cooperation with the municipality of Lovendegem and with the permission of Waterwegen en Zeekanaal NV, this mural was created by Cee Pil. This work of art is an artistic interpretation of the many sporting and recreational activities that take place on a daily basis near the bridge.
Because of the need for a recognizable and original starting point for the numerous cycling tours that depart from this location on the Ghent-Bruges Canal, it was decided to have an original and contemporary mural placed on this bridge pillar.
The very recognizable style of Cee Pil fitted perfectly with the idea of incorporating three activities into one work of art. Where he often mixes two animals or objects in one drawing using his familiar stripes. Here he let the runner turn into a cyclist, who ends up as a rider. With this work of art he also wanted to depict the explosion that occurs in the three sport activities.
