Karel Rymhof square
In depth
Youth Service Ghent was looking for an artist to place a ground painting on Karel Rymhof square and we were happy to help them during the search!
The square often suffers from nuisance problems and therefore creates an unsociable and unattractive environment for local residents. They were looking for a way to remedy this and at the same time increase the playability for children. By means of a colorful ground painting, they wanted to draw attention to this problem and attract children from the neighborhood to the square.
Resto got to work with this information and created a colorful, playful design. The planes represent the fantasy that children have and the 'anything is possible' principle. The different surfaces provide many play opportunities that the children themselves can determine. During the painting, children even came to play on the finished surfaces. It seems our mission is accomplished!
