Uilenspiegel
In depth
At Restaurant Uilenspiegel they used the lock-down to refresh their business. At the reopening, they did not only want to spoil their guests with good food in the brasserie, but also with some beautiful works of art. Besides the tasty traditional Gentse Vlaai, you will now also find some tasty new works by the (un)official count of Ghent: Cee Pil.
We found four surfaces that could serve as a nice canvas: the toilets downstairs and a nice wall on the ground floor. With the murals, we want to make a link to the shop, its history and location.
With the different sections that can be found throughout the restaurant, the toilets are an excellent opportunity to link back to the name of the restaurant: Uilenspiegel (Owl mirror). The owl as an animal stands for wisdom, but now also for cosiness. To emphasise the historical link, managers Tilly and Matthias brought in 'De Gulden Draak’ to decorate their room.
Did you also get the taste for a mural here? Let us know about it!
